BEST PADDLING CLUB TO WATCH

 EDITORS' PICK

Lanikai Canoe Club

After two back-to-back wins by Tahiti crews, Lanikai Canoe Club is gunning to bring the Molokai Hoe title back to Oahu. More specifically, back to Lanikai. The club last won the prestigious 41-mile race across the Kaiwi Channel in 2005. (It set the course record in 2000, which was then destroyed by a Tahiti team in 2006.) Oahu’s dominant distance crew slipped from fifth to seventh place last year, and that’s not acceptable. Lanikai will definitely be the team to watch.
