Tony Moniz may be a big-wave surfer, but he won’t complain about catching the beginner-friendly waves in Waikiki, where he’s taught thousands of newbies how to surf. “It’s the best place in the world to surf,” says the owner of Faith Riding Co. Surf School. “The surf is gentle, and the rides are very long.” A father of five, Moniz takes his job as surf instructor seriously, employing the Waikiki beach-boy philosophy of incorporating aloha into the sport. “It’s about giving and sharing from the heart,” he says.
