Hidden Kaimuki gem

Yesterday’s brokers’ opens revealed some new listings that realtors think will be hot properties this weekend, such as this home on Hanole Place in Kaimuki. It’s not just that the house is cute; the 96816 area is considered to be a popular neighborhood right now.

“It’s a very private location off of Ocean View Drive and sits on a knoll, so you get views out to Koko Head and a good breeze,” says Shaila Campbell of Island, REALTORS.

Campbell says the 83-year-old home has been in the family for more than 60 years, and has been maintained well. Aside from the dated design, the home does show almost like new. The tatami room extension, which opens out to the yard, was built in the 1970s; the newest upgrade is the roof, which was done two years ago.

The two-story home was built so that the levels connect seamlessly for one-family living, but you can opt for multi-family living, as the upstairs has two bedrooms and 1.5 baths, while the downstairs has two bedrooms and one bath with a separate entry.

The residence is a spacious 2,205 square feet, but there are lots of built-ins. As you walk through the home, you’ll find a lot of bookshelves and—my favorite—lots of shoe racks.

You can see the home yourself at the first open house this Sunday from 2 to 5 pm. (Click here for more details.)
