Open house picks of the week: Holiday bonus

You’re either a hard-core realtor or a hard-core seller to have an open house on Christmas Day. There are four open houses this Sunday, so if you’re shopping for a home (heck, even if you’re not), try to drop in and show these agents some love. It’s going to be a long day for them.

Waikiki – Ala Wai Palms
If you start in Waikiki, you'll find a spacious two-bedroom, two-bathroom corner end unit in the Ala Wai Palms. It's 958 square feet with another 84 square feet of open lanai, from which you can take in direct views of the Ala Wai canal, golf course, and mountains. It's got an open floor plan with recently upgraded chef's kitchen, ceramic tile floors, and new paint throughout. It's partially furnished, too.
Money talk: $385,000 fee simple

Salt Lake – Plaza Landmark
Here's a fully furnished penthouse with golf course, mountain and ocean Views in the Plaza Landmark building in Salt Lake. It's got two bedrooms and two bathrooms under 1,191 square feet of living area and a washer/dryer in the unit. Better yet, it's been fully upgraded. Bonus: two side-by-side parking stalls.
Money talk: $625,000 fee simple

Waikiki – Waikiki Shore
This studio might be one of interest to any tourists looking to extend their vacation forever: The Waikiki Shore is an older beachfront condominium, but unit 1404 is luxuriously remodeled. It's also one of the highest, with full Diamond Head View.
Money talk: $699,000 fee simple

Hawaii Loa Ridge
Here’s a private luxury home on Hawaii Loa Ridge with 5 bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms, decorated with a metal gate and set back from the street. It’s got a bit of flair with Corinthian columns, two designs of dolphins and turtles in the pool, a living room with high ceilings, and a dancing floor with a center medallion.
Money talk: $2,380,000 fee simple

And, as we head into the weekend, I thought I’d share a poem that Caroline Witherspoon of Becker Communications wrote for me, based on “Twas the Night Before Christmas.” Witherspoon does the public relations for the Honolulu Board of Realtors.

‘Twas the night before Christmas,
when all across Oahu
very few houses were 'open',
not even in Waipahu.

The stockings were hung
in what few homes have chimneys
All I wanted to find were some homes to feature
by jimeny!

The children were nestled
all snug in their beds,
While visions of open floor plans, dining nooks and infinity pools
danced through my head.

When out on the lawn
there arose such a clatter,
I got all excited thinking a Realtor had found
me a home to highlight that would matter.

While that didn't happen,
I still have my holiday cheer.
Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays
and a Happy New Year!

Happy holidays!
