A Kailua home for serious entertainment

People often say their homes are great for entertaining guests, but this one seems to have been built for it. Although it's 58 years old, it was completely remodeled in 2004 and newly updated in 2011. (Click here for details.)

The first impression: There's ample parking for guests. The large stone driveway and entry can fit a few cars and bikes.

The entry opens to a huge living room with nine-foot high ceilings, making the 3,064-square-foot home look even larger than it already is. The living spaces open to the backyard patio and the landscaped, enclosed backyard, all on a 10,005-square-foot lot.

Hopefully you don't have a lot of clutter to hide from the guests, but if you do, there's lots of storage throughout the home so you can get things out of the way.

People who entertain a lot know that most guests congregate in the kitchen. Here, the area is open and spacious; it has an island featuring a prep bar with counter seating, all with granite counters and engineered wood floors and cabinets.

To accommodate overflow, there's a family room just off the kitchen. This side has a pass-through counter with more seating room for those who like to watch the chef work.

There are four bedrooms and three bathrooms in this residence, all with modern touches in a layout that takes advantage of the cross-ventilation. There are ceiling fans and central air conditioning, though, to help that along-a nice touch, especially when you have a lot of guests filling the house.
