A vacation home in Kailua, for everyday

The way real estate agent Scott Carvill sees it, there are large luxury homes available in Kailua but few that fit the “modest sized luxury” bill. For a small family or executive couple looking for a moderately sized home, there aren’t too many luxury turnkey options out there.

Which is why he thinks 141 Mokumanu Drive is well placed in this market.

If you ask us, we think it will go fast because of the home’s resort like-feel. Literally, the moment you step out of your car and onto the home’s manicured lawn you feel like you’ve been whisked away to a 5-star hotel. Between perfectly appointed outdoor seating areas and beautiful, thoughtful landscaping choices, the grounds that surround this three bedroom, two-and-a-half-bathroom home truly feel like those you might find at a posh resort. Add to the luxury a great location – it’s just a short stroll to a prime part of Lanikai Beach.

Like realtor Carvill says, the home itself isn’t huge. At 1,668 square feet, it’s more modest in size than some of its bulkier neighbors. Yet with an open floor plan, high ceilings and tons of natural light throughout, the whole home feels far larger than it actually is.

Entirely redone in 2011, you’d never know 141 Mokumanu’s bones date back to the seventies. A perfect example of this is the sleek, open kitchen with brand-name appliances, warm wood cabinets and a seriously sexy granite counter top. There’s absolutely nothing retro about this kitchen.

Flanking the kitchen is a formal dining room and a sun-soaked living space. With two-story vaulted ceilings that boast both skylights and floor-to-ceiling windows, the first floor of this home is a sun worshiper’s paradise.

Head upstairs and check out the home’s bonus loft. The perfect spot for a home office or even a guest bedroom, the loft is complete with its own bathroom. Also upstairs are two plush bedrooms, including the swanky master—just in case you need a retreat from your retreat.
