Open house pick of the week: Kailua

The 1970s—maybe on the heels of the psychedelic 60s—brought out some interesting home décor and building designs. You can see a good example of that in our open house pick of the week on Kalaheo Ave. (Click here for details.)

The home is a unique, 3,202-square-foot residence comprised of three round pods: the living room, and two of the four bedrooms. One of those bedroom pods is attached, but used as guest quarters. There are 3.5 bathrooms, as well.

Due to the shape, the living room is very open and offers a view of the pool and back yard. The gourmet kitchen flowsinto the room, which makes it ideal for entertaining.

It was built in 1970 but renovated by a local architect, Sheffield Associates, in 2004. The upgrade included the addition of a large master suite, located on the second floor.

The 10,000-square-foot lot includes a heated pool with a covered lanai area, and a professionally landscaped, fenced yard. If you don’t want to sit around the house, it is across the street from Kailua Beach access.

This home will be open on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. Happy house hunting!

Money talk: $1,234,567 fee simple (yes, that’s the price)
