Open house pick of the week: Hawaii Kai

According to realtor Cherie Tsukamoto, there are currently only eight single-family homes on the market in Hawaii Kai under $800,000. Her new listing—open this weekend—is one of them. (Click here for details.)

“If you are looking to buy in this area and can only afford that much, this is one of the nicer ones,” Tsukamoto says.

The 1,658-square-foot, single-level home has three bedrooms and two bathrooms, with an open, versatile floor plan. When these homes were originally built by Kaiser Development, Tsukamoto says the layout was created with various options, so the open family room could be converted to an office if the new owners wish to do so.

Although it was built in 1979, there have been various upgrades to the house over time, many of them in recent years. The most prominent upgrade is the chef-inspired gourmet kitchen with Brazilian granite counter tops, Kraft Maid cabinets with lazy susans, soft close drawers, spice rack cabinets, stainless steel appliances, LED under-counter lighting and more.

There is also laminate wood flooring and brand new Berber carpet throughout the home. Tsukamoto adds that the Pella energy-efficient windows also add value, and have been an attraction for savvy homebuyers.

This home will be open from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Happy house hunting!
