A great home for your ... Descendants

The Descendants opened in select theaters nationwide recently, and if Hawaii didn't know actress Patricia Hastie before, they do now. Hastie plays Elizabeth King, the comatose wife of George Clooney's character, Matt King.

Hastie's work in film and television has probably inspired her artistic side, which is what she has poured into her home in Na Pali Haweo in Hawaii Kai. Various elements of color, texture, sizes and shapes are pulled together to reflect her style throughout the house, which give it a modern yet homey feel.

The 4,232-square-foot residence was remodeled in 2008 with some of the best quality finishes normally seen in California homes: Pella windows and doors, travertine and Austrian Cypress wood floors, and more. The gourmet kitchen features a gas cooktop, custom cabinetry, granite counters, and stainless steel appliances.

If you're entertaining, there's something for everyone: a salt water pool with a waterfall, game room with wet bar, and a home theater (of course).

"The best and most unusual part about this home is its view," says realtor Mary LaVoie of Elite Pacific Properties. "Most homes have 50 to 75 linear feet of view. Since this is on a cul-de-sac, the view width is 300 linear feet."

LaVoie adds that every room in the house has a view, which is a plus; you can see Lanai, Maui, Molokai and—now through May—all the whales.

There are four bedrooms and bathrooms, a large, open lanai and a two-car garage. The lot is 12,866 square feet. "You get a lot of house for the money," LaVoie says. (Click here for details.)
