Luxury rental on Round Top Drive

I don’t get to blog about luxury rentals too often, although they are a point of interest for some readers. Many times, rentals of such caliber are reserved by or owned by celebrities or executives, who don’t want a lot of exposure for their properties.

This one in Makiki, which recently became available, caught my eye and is not off-limits to talk about. (Click here for more details.)

It’s huge, even for homes up on Round Top Dr., with six bedrooms and three bathrooms on two levels. It only comes with appliances, though, so you can put your own touches throughout the 4,000 square feet of living area.

It looks like a regular Western home, but once inside, you can see the very Japanese touches, with the zen garden and the furo-like soaking tub. I’m especially impressed by the toilet surrounded by shoji screens (although the toilets themselves are pretty basic).

The wood throughout the home, from the walls to the beams to ceilings and closets, are so rich and warm, you feel more homey than ostentatious.

Since it’s so high up the mountain, you can enjoy sweeping views of the city and ocean from the lanais that run the entire length of the main living areas on both levels.

Money talk: $5,000 per month
