Open House of the Week: Ocean-View Condo in Honolulu's Nauru Tower

A room with a view: This 29th-floor Nauru Tower condo, listed at $959,000, has ocean views from just about every living space.

It’s Aloha Friday, which means it’s time to talk open houses. This time, I’m honing in on metro Oahu, specifically Nauru Tower on Ala Moana Blvd. Everyone knows that the realtor mantra is “location, location, location,” and Nauru certainly qualifies. “I think, traditionally, this building has been really liked by Asian offshore buyers because of the location,” says Sachi Braden, the principal broker at Sachi Hawaii Pacific Century Properties. “You can walk across the street to the park and beach, and then there’s the convenient shopping at Ward and Ala Moana Centers, and you’re also within walking distance of lots of restaurants. And the drive to the airport is 15 to 30 minutes. It’s very, very convenient.”

The 29th-floor condo, which boasts the requisite unobstructed ocean views, as well as treetop views of the beach and park, has two bedrooms and two baths with 1,200-sq.-ft. of living space plus a 92-sq.-ft. lanai off of the guest bedroom. While the master may not have the outdoor space, it does have a wall of windows, the bottom row of which can be opened up for fresh air. The kitchen is “compact,” but it’s oriented toward the ocean to take advantage of those aforementioned views, and has black-granite countertops and all the usual appliances (Sub-Zero refrigerator, oven, microwave and dishwasher). The master bathroom, which is outfitted in gray marble, comes with all the perks expected of a nearly million-dollar property: walk-in shower, separate Jacuzzi tub, double sinks and “huge” walk-in closet.

The building’s amenities are also worth noting: swimming pool, Jacuzzi, lighted tennis court, barbecue area and security. The condo comes with one parking space, and association fees are $923 per month, which includes water and basic cable.

Money talk: The condo was originally listed at $1.1 million, and was recently reduced to $959,000.
