Treasure Island

Lei ChicYou roamed the open seas for years in search of the elusive land of TOR.

Pockets of treasure indicated you were on the right track - you stumbled upon gold-filled earrings with semi-precious gemstones while exploring Genius Outfitters; then delicate pearl-studded bangles appeared in the urban jungle of Basique Threads. Each unearthed find fueled your quest to find the source of their prized beauty.

Then, nestled in the lush mountains of Kailua, TOR Boutique opened its doors.

Lei ChicOwner Caroline Hay stocks plenty of TOR's signature pieces, but she also filled the space with her own discoveries, including items she fell in love with during a trip to Bali last November. Dig through thick, colorful, handmade cotton scarves that can double as sarongs; jewel-toned embroidered bags with braided handles and pom poms, sewn by a native tribe; and, our absolute favorite, a jewelry line by Ronaldo Sinaga that features gold- and silver-plated hammered brass pieces with pearl and glass accents.

Many of the clothes are by brands Hay culled from her personal closet.

Lei ChicHunt through soft knit tees with knotted peek-a-boo shoulders and lacy maxi skirts by Coveted Clothing, and snatch up Ark & Co.'s fuschia skirt with braided waistline and high-low hemline before Hay claims it for herself.

So turn your rags into riches.

Finally, you've struck gold.

TOR Boutique is located at 45 Hoolai St. in Kailua, (808)282-5678. A grand opening and preview sale will be held this Thursday, April 5 from 3-8 p.m. For more information, visit TOR Boutique on Facebook or shop TOR Jewelry online.
