Island Bopping

Lei Chic Admission Day is just a few days away, which means it's time to celebrate our status as the 50th (and hands-down coolest) state.

To help you get in a Hawai‘i state of mind, we compiled a fun Islands-inspired playlist, jam-packed with 808-themed oldies but goodies and fresh local tunes.

1 . “Kihei Town,” by The Throwdowns

2. “HI-808,” by Blue Scholars

"Two Weeks In Hawaii," by Hellogoodbye

4. “Honolulu,”  by The Deadbeats

“Hawaii,” by Meiko

6.  “Honolulu,” by Tassho Pearce a.k.a. Emirc

7.  “Hawaii,” by David Singer

8. “Chinatown,” by Black Square

9. “Hawaii (Brian Wilson),” by The Queers

10. “Hats Off To Hawaii,” by The Kung Fu Monkeys

You'll also discover all the cool events, dinners and sales happening around town in our Weekend Picks every Thursday. Lei Chic associate editor Natalie Schack has been a cultural anthropology student, museum worker bee and dabbler in graphic design. When she isn't scouting new fashion, compiling to-do lists or crafting puns, Natalie spends her free time dreaming up elaborate picnic ideas; "researching" via YouTube tutorials, blogs and Instagram; and dusting off her pith helmet for the next adventure life throws her way.
