Weekend Picks - Sept. 1, 2011
Sneak Lei Chic
What: In school it was all about the three Rs. Now you live for the three Ds - discounts, new designers, and free drinks. You'll find them all at the first ever Lei Chic Mercedes Benz Pop Up Boutique. The LC team has been giddy rifling through snapshots and samples of all the great new clothes, swimsuits, jewelry, and bags that will be going in the two-day event (some have not yet been seen in local stores). Now you can join in the fun with an online preview. That's in addition to complimentary custom-made beverages and a special gift from your favorite boutiques - a pass for 20 percent off for the rest of September.
When: Friday, Sept. 16, 4 - 8 p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 17, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Where: The Mercedes Benz of Honolulu Showroom, 818 Kapiolani Blvd.

What: Watch the Warriors kick off the season against Colorado in air conditioned comfort on the Windward side. The Koko Marina 8 and Koolau 10 theatres will broadcast the game live so you can skip the crowds, but still cheer from stadium seating.

Baking the Rules
What: You usually can't take the cake to your games unless you're okay with frosting fumbles. The team at Let them Eat Cupcakes cooked up a tailgating solution with their push pops - LTEC's signature cakes and buttercreams layered in a handy, old-school push pop container with a cap.
When: The push pops go on sale tomorrow. LTEC is open 10 a.m. - whenever they sell out (usually around 2 p.m.)
Where: Let Them Eat Cupcakes, 35 S. Beretania St.
Details: Cookies n cream, german chocolate, and Bailey's pop will be $3 each. (Tip, attack it from the side so you get a little bit of frosting and cake in each bite). Call to reserve yours early, 808.531.CAKE (2253).
