My Flair Lady
Ladyslider's surf, travel pop-up shop opens in Waikiki

Photos by Tara Michie
It might have been the four-day work week last week. Or maybe you're just lazy. Whatever the reason, this week is totally draaagging.
Time to slide in a little fun at Ladyslider's pop-up shop, opening tonight in Waikiki.
You might recognize Tara Michie's work from the collaboration of droolworthy pouches she released with Samudra last year. Now, the Haleiwa photographer/blogger is taking over part of the beachy new boutique, specialme, to install her very own pop-up shop, a reflection of Ladyslider's wandering, surf-infused lifestyle.
Inside, you'll find a vibrant selection of personal pieces, like those pouches, including (our favorite, shown right) City of Lights, a view of the softly-lit Eiffel Tower and a carousel Michie shot in Paris last summer; relaxed tanks screenprinted with "Cold Coconut" and "Hot Lau Lau" signs snapped roadside in Waiahole; a series of beach and travel scenes nested in custom reclaimed wood frames - think a tiny crab scooped from the sand in Waipio Valley or a glassy ocean swim in Tahiti.
Then there are items Michie holds near and dear: beachy, bohemian Hinu Jewelry by Samudra's Jennifer Binney, flattering yet functional (and locally-designed) Issa de' mar bikinis, stylish Australian Muther of All Things wetsuits, even silky Florida-based Sun Bum sunscreen.
It's like traveling the world in one simple stop.
Nothing like a midweek excursion to lighten the brood.
Opens tonight at 6:30 p.m. at specialme, 2113 Kalakaua Ave., Suite 202, (808) 926-5232, and runs through May 15.
