Moonlighting (sent)

www.leichic.com You might’ve heard the rumors (or, come to think of it, maybe not) about a secret group of individuals who gather at Black Point on the night of the full moon. As the moon lifts itself from the sea they – yes, you guessed it – howl.

We agree – that’s a little freaky. So we’ve got a better idea about how to enjoy this beautiful monthly event: Full Moon Yoga at Lanikai Beach, taught by Jennifer Perell (she also teaches when the sun shines at Koa Yoga, Windward YMCA, Yoga Hawai‘i in Kaimuki, and at private lessons).

Each full moon (the next is this Wednesday, June 18) just head to the beach, lay down your yoga mat over the straw beach mats Jen sets out, and join the 10-20 others who usually take the time to drink in the moonlit night. As the glowing orb rises over the Moks you’ll flow through the asanas with your breath, and whether a beginner or old yoga hand, Jen offers poses and modifications for all.

Another great reason to get out and stretch your body – and maybe your mind and soul while you’re at it.

Even if it’s only once in a blue moon.

This month’s Full Moon Yoga on the Beach is on Wednesday, June 18, 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Mokumanu Street beach access (second left), Lanikai.
