Mon Cherie
What:
Great news for those of you that can hardly pull yourselves away from French street-style blogs. Carven, the French brand with architectural skirts, sweet prints, contrasting collars and tidy jackets that look straight out of a blogger’s closet, has brushed up its online presence with a social media push and an online store that is shoppable for U.S. customers. Even if you don't end up splurging on a quirky piece, the gorgeous lookbook-style site is packed with Euro inspiration. Not to mention, their vintage-style social media video is a too-cute must-watch.

Details: Seal of approval from Olivia Palermo? Check.

Attend
Carnival, Carnival
What:
Works of art in stuffy, quiet museums? Like it. Works of art in an open-association format where shouting whatever comes to mind is not only acceptable, but encouraged? Love it. Carousel, this Friday’s June Kaboom event at Kakaako Agora, brings together works by artists and creatives from a whole gamut of industries—think geographers to photographers to musicians—that will be presented to the audience. The best part is the format of "Look, Shout, Listen, Learn" means audience members become an integral, dynamic part of the presentation. In other words, this ain’t your momma’s trip to the museum.
Where: Kakaako Agora, 441 Cooke St.
When: Friday, June 27 , 6–8 p.m.
Details: Visit the Carousel Facebook event page for more info.

Read
An Apple A Day
What:
Apparently, taking stories we know and love from childhood and turning them dark and "grown-up" is trending. We'd be concerned if the adaptations weren't so intriguing. The latest that's making literary waves is the book Boy, Snow, Bird by Helen Oyeyemi, a very loose retelling of the Snow White tale that has racial identity as one of its central themes. Just out this year, it was on the cover of The New York Times Book Review and has been compared to works by poetic novelists such as Toni Morrison, Haruki Murakami and Gabriel Garcia Marquez.
Where: $20.48 on amazon.com
Details: Oyeyemi's last novel, Mr. Fox, also dabbles in fairy tales, this time from the fairy tale writer's point of view.

Cook

Mango-a-Go-Go
What:
Nothing makes summer sweet quite like the taste of a ripe, golden mango. But what about making it savory? Moana Surfrider Executive Chef Ryan Loo will teach a demonstration class (with tasting, woot!) with two savory fresh-fruit dishes. Before you get nervous, we promise that these are simple, easy-to-make recipes. And how ono does Mango Tea Smoked Shinsato Farms Pork sound? Noms.

When: June 28 from 10:30 a.m. to noon.
Where: Cookspace Classroom, 1050 Ala Moana Blvd., Suite 2360

Details: The class costs $36.64, which includes tax. Make sure to register on the website.

Pretty Good Lookin’
What:
Style report is in: Your old Google Glass frames are so last season, especially now that Google has paired up with fashion giantess Diane von Furstenberg for a decidedly sleek update to the Glass design. All the DVF frames come with a detachable sunglass shade and have a modern, rounded silhouette in colors such as plum and charcoal. Cutting edge never looked so haute.
Where: Net-A-Porter
Details: These babies will put you back $1,800 a pair. With this price tag, it will definitely involve a delve into the old piggy bank, but, hey, at least you have both the tech AND style funds to pull from.

Eat
Buon Compleanno
What:
It's Arancino's birthday, and you're totally invited. The best part? No take-out catering at this shindig: The Italian restaurant is marking its one-year anniversary at The Kahala with a slew of new dishes to help your tastebuds celebrate. Now available on the menu are items such as Chef Hamamoto's deconstructed version of carbonara, with poached egg, pancetta and truffle butter, and a lavender-infused sous vide Wagyu beef (a rare treat in Hawaii).
Where: 5000 Kahala Ave.
Details: Visit arancino.com to make reservations or call 380-4400.

Total Shoe-In
What:
These boots were made for walking, and that's just what they'll do. And pumps. And sandals. And heels. Some people say you have an addiction, but we like to call it a passion—and now that the new Roger Vivier mini-boutique corner has opened up in Neiman Marcus carrying shoes and handbags, you'll be able to add to your (huge) collection. The store quietly made the mini boutique public just this past week and it's already been a hit with both locals and visiting tourists alike. The grand opening event is slated for August, so get your shoe on now before word gets out!
Where: Neiman Marcus, Ala Moana Center
Details: The Honolulu mini-boutique is one of only two in Neiman Marcuses across the country (the other is in Beverly Hills).

Shop
Weather You Do or Don't
What:
Warning: Flash storms ahead. And by flash we mean the wind + our skirts  =  no bueno. Luckily, there's an app for that. With the handy, whimsically illustrated Weather to Wear app, entertain yourself—and plan ahead—with cute weather forecasts that predict just how sky-high current gusts will send your skirts. Calm ruffling? Risk the mini. Maybe leave your Marilyn-inspired dress at home for the Heavy Wind, Will Blow Up category.
Where: The Apple App store
Details: Such a better choice for an app than this monstrosity was.
