She Got the Beat
Last night a she-jay saved your life -- from the usual smack-that/get-low/drop-it-like-it’s-hot playlist by a dude on the decks.
Turns out, chicks who mix is one thing you can love in the club.
So we asked three of Honolulu’s top female DJs to hit up the 1’s and 2’s just for us. Check out these free mixtapes they made especially for Lei Chic readers.

DJ Zita
Her mixtape is titled “A Tribute to the Queens of True School Hip Hop” and it’s heavy with tracks from Lauryn Hill, Da Brat, Queen Latifah and familiar female voices from the last three decades.

DJ Kitty Lee
She’s an ultra-diva who has regular gigs from downtown to the North Shore. Her “Subliminal Programming” mashup mix is an hour-plus jam of electro sound with upbeat bass lines from recognizable pop and rock tracks.

DJ Silvana
An Italy native, her mellow-but-upbeat, vibey lounge sound comes from tracks she finds on imported vinyl records from Europe to Japan. Download her mix here.
