Most Wanted - April 2012

Lei Chic

Thirty days hath September, April, June and -- uh-oh.

We know there is no April 31st. But unlike sands through the hourglass, we accidentally miscounted the days of our lives.

So here's our Most Wanted list for April, delivered to you at the top of May. We're a day late and, after going through our picks, a few dollars short.

But when it comes to great style, we don't mind being fashionably late.

Lei Chic Stacey
Style Profile: If Jonathan Adler and Kate Spade had a love child (okay, Simon Doonan can come along) - Preppy casual with a color explosion.
Lei Chic I love the lightweight feel of seersucker, and this fitted pant has a sweet pinstripe for summer.
J.Crew Cafe Capri in Seersucker, $98, J.Crew-on-the-Island, Ala Moana Center, (808) 949-5252, and JCrew.com.
Lei Chic I love the support and feel of ASICS; it's like running on air. Plus, the color combination of black and green reminds me of my favorite ice cream - mint chocolate chip.
ASICS Gel - Nimbus 13 in Black/White/Green, $129.99, FootLocker.com. Foot Locker stores in Hawaii carry the same style, but not this specific color.
Lei Chic I love this edgy, yet refined statement piece. Plus, purple is the one color that isn't in my rainbow brights jewelry collection.
Aurelie Bidermann Do Brasil Bracelet, exclusive giveaway on Style.com.

Lei Chic Terri
Style Profile: Classic, clean lines a la Kate Middleton with a pop of Rachel Zoe. Constant quest for the perfect fitted jacket and heels.
Lei Chic As soon as I saw this bright salmon blazer, I fell in love with its perfectly tailored seams, embellished gold buttons and preppy striped lining. It's only available in store, so I stalked it for weeks until it finally went on sale.
$84.99, Banana Republic, Kahala Mall, (808) 737-4747. One each in 2P, 4P, 10P, 14P, no regular sizes.
Lei Chic I tried these pancakes at the "I Love Kailua!" town party and have been obsessing over them ever since. The fluffy cake is melt-in-your-mouth amazing, and the creamy lilikoi sauce provides the perfect balance of tart and sweet.
$6.25 short stack, $7.50 full stack, Moke's Bread and Breakfast, 27 Hoolai St., Kailua, (808) 261-5565.
Lei Chic This vintage necklace caught my eye with its fun waterfall design and white and bronze beading, plus it goes with pretty much everything. I threw it over two necklaces I already had on, and it layered perfectly.
$14, Barrio Vintage, 1160 Nuuanu Ave., (808) 674-7156.

Lei Chic Brie
Style: If Marc Jacobs married Zooey Deschanel - Feminine fashion-forward silhouettes with a vintage spin.
Lei Chic Slightly rustic with a touch of wit, these whimsical ceramic beakers make great holders for everything from kitchen utensils to freshly cut flowers and air plants.
$6 for 3-inch, $25 for 6-inch, $39 for 9-inch, Mesh by Shari Saiki, The Shops At Dole Cannery, (808) 536-6374.
Lei Chic I recently picked up "The Wonderful World of Fifi Lapin: Style Secrets From A Furry Fashionista." Inspired by the illustrated bunny's uber-popular fashion blog, this book is flush with delightful drawings and tips for translating top runway trends into everyday ensembles.
$14.95, Owens & Co., 1152 Nuuanu Ave., (808) 531-4300.
Lei Chic I can't wait to dress up my tabletops with Bohos, the latest collection of all-natural Allure candles, which come in yummy scents such as Pineapple Cilantro, Oceano, Gardenia and Thai Lily set in almost-too-pretty-to-use printed glass jars.
$18.95 for large, $12.95 for demi, Papyrus, Ala Moana Center, (808) 947-2700.

Lei Chic Christi
Style Profile: Wants Michael Kors, Giuseppe Zanotti, and Phillip Lim to live in her closet (even though some of them have already come out) - Accessories addict with an urban tilt.
Lei Chic Everyone in the office knows Sneakpeeq is my daily obsession. Finds like Vanessa Gade jewelry prove why. I love the industrial look of oxidized silver and the clever angles woven with a vermeil chain make for a simple but striking everyday accessory.
Inner Circle Necklace, $136, www.vanessagade.com.
Lei Chic My beauty junk drawer is packed with balms that failed to ease my dry lip problems. My winner is Korres Guava Lip Balm. The flavor is not so guava like, but it gives me an uber-moisturized pout without stickiness. My next buys will be the tinted pomegranate and wild plum versions.
$12, all Sephora locations and Sephora.com.
Lei Chic I know I'm late to the kale chips party. But recently, we wiped out an entire head in about 30 seconds. Two tips: Use a salad spinner before pressing the kale between paper towels to get it really dry before baking; and for some sinus-clearing flavor, add a dash of Hawaiian Kine's potent Asian Wasabi Oil (also good drizzled on popcorn with furikake).
$6, Hawaiian Kine's Web site and various retailers.
