Lei Chic Shop
To the Maxx
What:
You've seen the commercials. Now, T.J.Maxx's first Hawaii location is finally open. Here are a few tips to help you navigate the 35,000-square foot store (that is, if you're not already there).

1. As soon as you enter, turn right and hit up the special "Runway" department, exclusive to the Ward store. We're not allowed to mention designer names, but let's just say we spotted a pair of red soled shoes among the many high-end items. Don't forget to look across the aisle for embellished cardigans, printed skirts and a $35 tank by a designer whose name rhymes with "Gate Trade."

Lei Chic2. Avoid the racks. The best stuff is located around the perimeter. If you're in a hurry, just walk down the aisle. Then, when you reach the shoe department, head straight to the back and check the display shelves for luxe labels, like the three initial designer known for her iconic wrap dresses.

3. Stop by the kitchen department to pick up some French cast iron cookware normally found at that fancy kitchen store down the street.

4. Check our Facebook page for a look at the designer items we spotted during our visit. We'll be adding more photos throughout the day, and feel free to post your own finds on our page. Sizes are limited and expect smaller sizes to go first, but we're told the store gets thousands of new items in each week.

Where: 1170 Auahi St., Ward Village Shops, 3rd Floor
Details: Two more stores open in the coming weeks - May 10: Pearl City Gateway, 1120 Kuala St.; and May 17: Pearlridge Center Uptown, 98-1005 Moanalua Rd.
