Georgie: a pop-up holiday pie shop in Let Them Eat Cupcakes

What are pies doing in Let Them Eat Cupcakes? They're owner Kawehi Haug's newest venture: Georgie (yes, as in Georgie Porgie, puddin' and pie). For the holiday season, she's selling pies every Wednesday, a trial run as she looks to open a pie shop. (She's also partners in Street Frites, which offers thick-cut Belgian-style fries, last seen at the Honolulu Night Market. Fries, pies and cupcakes? She knows what she's doing, catering to all our weaknesses.)

Georgie debuted last week with pumpkin, apple crisp, blueberry and apple-cranberry pie, as well as petite strawberry pies. Each was chock full of bright fruit—no gummy fillers here. Haug is still tweaking and figuring out her ovens for pies, so the pies will hopefully only continue to improve—some were too sweet for my taste, and the pumpkin could have benefited from an overnight chill to meld the flavors. I'm also a stickler for a flaky, butter crust, which is much too rare in Honolulu.

But certainly, these pies won't make the girls cry, unless they've arrived too late for a slice, which run out fast.

Georgie, every Wednesday from November 14 to December 19 at Let Them Eat Cupcakes. $4/slice, $22/whole. All pies also available by special order. Check Facebook,, for weekly pie flavors.
