Open House Pick of the Week: Makakilo

If space is what you need, a recently listed three-story home in Makakilo might be the right fit.

The 3,123 square foot home sits on a 6,200 square foot lot that’s perfect for outdoor entertaining, with a beautifully landscaped fenced-in yard that includes tiled patio areas, and even a koi pond.

The single-family home was recently remodeled to include a substantial 2,049 square foot addition. The house now has four bedrooms and three baths on three levels -- including a bedroom and full bath on the ground floor. The renovations also include bamboo and tile flooring, copper plumbing and vinyl windows that frame ocean views and give the home an airy feel.

There’s even a custom spiral staircase to a possible extended family room, says realtor Simona Winstone.

The home is located at 92-644 Mehani Street in lower Makakilo, where higher elevations mean cooler breezes and amazing views.

“It’s convenient to everything. It’s basically just up the street from Kapolei,” Winstone says.

In fact, the home sits in the Kapolei school district, as Makakilo Elementary School feeds into Kapolei Middle and Kapolei High School, two of the newest public schools on the island.

You can view the property during an open house Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m.

Money talk: $699,500
