Open house of the week: North to Laie

I’ve had to drive to the North Shore a couple times recently for work. While I’m not usually a big fan of commutes -- who is? -- there’s something almost serene about driving along Oahu’s topmost coastline. So for this week’s open house pick, I’m sending you to Laie.

The three-bedroom, two bath home was just put on the market on Wednesday. With an asking price of $517,106, it might not be available for long.

The single-family home was recently upgraded with vinyl windows, laminate flooring and a fresh coat of paint. A new owner could make further improvements inside or out. The home covers 1,560 square feet on a 5,446 square foot lot, making future expansion an option.

You can enjoy the fresh air from your deck, or you can head down the highway a bit to Hukilau Beach or Malaekahana state park. Both areless than two miles away. The Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints is within walking distance, as is the Laie Shopping Center.

You can see the home at 55-488 Palekana Street during an open house from 2 to 5 p.m Sunday.
