Open house pick of the week: Ko Olina

No doubt the APEC leaders are catching up on their reading this weekend, and this famous blog is on their “must do” list. If you’re attending the APEC Economic Leaders Meeting or just want to look like it, check out some real estate in the Ko Olina area on Sunday while you’re there.

Here’s a list of a dozen open houses on the Ewa Plain on Sunday. The prices run from $225,00 (great for investing or first-time buyers) up to $1,750,000 (more suitable for a world leader looking to take a break from meetings, and take a nap).

You and your immediate family, or your cabinet, are probably more suited to this luxury condo at the Beach Villas at Ko Olina. Although you'll probably be driven to your meeting to ensure your security, it’s nice to know you have the option to walk to the various resort highlights: the new Aulani, Paradise Cove, four pristine beach lagoons, restaurants, golf, tennis and more.

This unit is 1,478 square feet with three bedrooms and three bathrooms, and an open, 215-square-foot lanai so you can take in the garden and ocean view. The complex was built in 2007 so everything is still fairly new. It’s got a secure entry (of course) and a tropically landscaped pool and barbecue area if you decide to mingle with local residents. It’s $1,750,000 fee simple; although there are several condo units available here, this is the only one open this weekend.

Your staff, bodyguards, and/or extended family may like this home at Ocean Pointe, a spacious two-story home with four bedrooms (one with a large walk-in closet), three bathrooms, home office and extra-large family room. It’s got a two-car garage—sorry, not big enough for a limousine—a landscaped and fenced yard, and a covered lanai. It’s just far enough outside of the resort area so they don’t have to get caught up in the boring world economic issues, but close enough so they can head over and join you for a cocktail once the meetings are done. This one is $699,999 fee simple.
