Gorgeous views of Waikiki Beach

Having just attended an event in Waikiki last evening, I can see why so many people want to live in one of Oahu’s most popular neighborhoods. If you like to be in the middle of it all, you’ve got it – dozens of restaurants, upscale shopping and, of course, the historic beach.

Foster Tower, which started out as a hotel designed by prominent architect George A. Schaffer from Thomas B. Bourne Associates Inc., is a high-rise condominium directly across the street from Kuhio Beach Park. If you’re a surfer, or have always wanted to learn, you couldn’t be in a better location (though some North Shore residents may argue).

This two-bedroom, two-bathroom unit, located on the building’s ninth floor, offers gorgeous views of Waikiki Beach. The 1,182-square-foot corner condo allows for a full ocean view from the enclosed lanai. And don’t worry, there’s no room for construction in front of the building, so it’s guaranteed.

Jacob Coash of Sachi Hawaii Pacific Century Properties says he prefers the view from this condo over a high-floor ocean view. “You're really down in the action, it’s like you’re almost street level, but with private viewing.”

Just a few streets away from Kapiolani Park, it’s also close to the zoo, the aquarium and Diamond Head if you’re looking for other forms of entertainment.

What you should know: Queen Liliuokalani Trust owns the land Foster Tower sits on, but earlier this year the trust announced the condos would become fee available, allowing owners and future buyers the chance to own the units outright. So if you’re willing to pay an additional $539,100 above the price, you can get out of the lease.

Since you’d be in the heart of Waikiki, you’ll likely be walking to most places, however, for trips that need a car one parking stall is included in the price.

You can check it out in person at an open house Sunday, Nov. 18, from 2 to 5 p.m. Click here for details.

Money talk: $965,000 leasehold (fee available)
