Honolulu named the third best city for trick-or-treating

Once again, Honolulu ranks third in the nation for trick-or-treating, according to national real-estate site Zillow.com. Want to get the best candy haul? Try neighborhoods like Makiki,Manoa, Kapahulu, and Kuliouou-Kalani Iki.

Most people tend to think wealthy neighborhoods put out the most Halloween candy, making them the best. However, Zillow’s study shows cities that not only potentially provide the most candy, but have the least walking and safety risks.

The Zillow Trick-or-Treat Index was calculated using four equally weighted data variables: Zillow Home Value Index, population density, Walk Score and local crime data from Relocation Essentials.

Like last year, Honolulu was beaten out by San Francisco and Boston. Here’s a chart to show how we fared against other cities:
