Open house pick of the week: Kailua

Homes in the Aikahi area are an easy sell, since it’s a desirable neighborhood and people are often looking to be in the Aikahi Elementary School district. Still, this house is worth a look, since it has some nice features that set it apart.

If you’re into entertaining, the 2,396-square-foot, single-level home has a very open layout. The kitchen has a unique bar area that makes it easy for you to cook and be a good hostess while engaging with guests who are gathered around it. Or, if you prefer outdoor dining, there’s a large pool outside with a barbecue area on the deck.

“The yard has an amazing Meyer lemon tree that makes the best lemonade ever,” adds owner Laura Kay Rand. “I may have to make one last batch before the sale closes!”

There are three bedrooms and two bathrooms, plus a one-bedroom, one-bath extension that can be used for guests or tenants. The master bedroom is huge, since it is actually a combination of two bedrooms, and features a closet that runs the length of the entire wall.

Interestingly enough, the laundry room is also very spacious; it’s as big as a bedroom, with storage on one side, the appliances on the other and room for a spare refrigerator (probably to store all that awesome lemonade).

This home is convenient to the beach, and Aikahi Park Shopping Center is just behind it, so it’s very well located. (Click here for more details.)

It will be open this Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. Happy house hunting!
