Open house pick of the week: Waipio

When I think of Central Oahu, I usually envision flat plains with cookie-cutter neighborhoods reminiscent of mainland suburbia. This new listing in Waipio, however, is unlike that perception, which may be why it’s the only unit available in the complex.

Evergreen Terrace is located near Mililani Tech Park, so as you get off the freeway, you’re suddenly greeted by a huge forest, as if you’re being propelled into a different part of Hawaii.

“There’s also a whole community just beyond that with single family homes and townhomes,” says realtor Donna Maier with Coldwell Banker Pacific Properties. “It’s kind of hidden, so it’s very quiet and peaceful, with picture-perfect neighborhoods. It’s almost surreal.”

Maier’s listing is a 934-square-foot condo with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and two parking stalls. Units in the building are rarely available, especially ones with this view: the extended, 129-square-foot lanai overlooks a lush park and stream, whereas most of the others overlook the parking lot.

This unit has new paint, newer laminate flooring, and comes with a home warranty. The complex features a pool, Jacuzzi, playground and resident manager onsite.

“It’s very convenient to the freeway, shopping, military base … and thanks to the trees and breezes, is quite cool,” Maier adds. (Click here for details.)

It will be open for the first time this Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. Happy house hunting!
