Weekend Picks - April 11, 2013

Six reasons to do something this weekend

Lei Chic Taste
Choc Star
Sample 14 different chocolates from Hawaii and around the world at Madre Chocolate's award-winning chocolate tasting, including a brand new batch made entirely from Maui-grown cacao. The bean-to-bar factory worked closely with Hana Gold Farm to produce a mellow, fruity chocolate with butterscotch and caramel finishes. Tonight, you'll meet farm owner Bob Frost and taste the result.
When: Tonight at 7:30 p.m.
Where: Madre Chocolate, 20-A Kainehe St.
Details: Purchase tickets here.

When: Entries will be accepted through April 26.

Family A-Flair
Head to Ward Centers for Discover Kakaako - this month's highlights include a fashion show by Eden in Love and T&C Surf Designs, performances by UH-Manoa's marching band and U.S. Air Force Band of the Pacific-Hawaii Jazz Trio, and the return of Half-y Hour, which pairs 50 percent off deals at stores like Eden in Love, Bean & Vanilla, and Executive Chef with free signature cocktails like Ruby Rouge Martini and Cake n' Club. Don't forget to stop by HONOLULU Family's booth for a chance to win gift certificates to Ward Centers restaurants, Go! Mokulele and more.
When: Saturday, 5-9 p.m.
Where: Ward Centers.

Lei Chic View
Small Wonders
Celebrate the opening of Fishcake's newest exhibit, Small Photographs. Eleven local photographers were challenged to create works on a "small" scale while thinking outside the box. The result: more than a hundred photos scattered throughout the main showroom, some no bigger than 3x3 inches.
When: Reception takes place tonight, 6-8 p.m., the exhibit runs through May 31.
Where: Fishcake, 307c Kamani St.
