Take a Pow
Starting tonight, more than 80 artists from around the world and Hawaii will converge for Pow Wow Hawaii 2013, a week devoted to the inspiration and creation of new artwork. View artists' signature pieces and purchase prints and other merchandise at the opening group show and pop-up shop. Then come Monday, watch as they get to work on a mural, studio art and music compositions. Panel discussions, a finale show and after party round out the week.
When and where: Show and pop-up shop opens tonight, 6-10 p.m., at Fresh Cafe, 831 Queen St., with events taking place throughout Honolulu through next Saturday, February 16.

Art-Felt Appreciation
Meet the man behind Muumuu Heaven's newest art exhibition, Ea Eckerman, at a special reception Tuesday evening. The Santa Cruz artist, who grew up on Oahu's North Shore, is best known for surreal depictions of nature (below); his work featured on posters for the Women's Triple Crown of Surfing and Kokua Festival.
