Three new collaborations from local designers

Published:

The buddy system worked super well in elementary school. Turns out, it works just as well in adulthood.

Don’t worry, no one’s going to make you go to the bathroom with a friend. But there are a couple of things that have been catching our eyes lately: Some of our fave designers have buddied up this month for collaboration projects that are double the fun. Check out the dynamic duos that are on our radar with these limited edition pieces.

You’ll definitely want to take one (or two) of these. You know, for the team.

1. The Laundry Room x We Are Iconic

Love We Are Iconic's too-cool, minimal, casual street style? Tell the world with its new breezy tees, which come in a crop top with the words “100 Percent We Are Iconic” and high-low hem version printed with “100 percent Honolulu.” Owners Shie and Nate Clark teamed up with The Laundry Room, an apparel brand from Los Angeles that they’ve carried in the past. Look out for more collabs—this pair promises more to come.

Crop tee, $62 at We Are Iconic, 1236 Waimanu St., 462-4575. High-low tee $55, on order.

2. Nico Made x Happy Town Hawaii

Both designers have piqued our interest in the past with Island prints and ombre canvas totes. Now, worlds collide with their new Surf and Aloha bags. They have all the cheery dip-dyed fun from Happy Town Hawaii’s previous lines with adorable sketches by Nico Made popping in a little more personality.

Aloha tote, $34, and Surf tote, $36, in the Happy Town Hawaii Etsy page or at Honolulu Night Market this Saturday, 6–11 p.m., 449 Cooke St.

3. Roberta Oaks x Pow! Wow! Hawaii

We expected nothing but epic-ness when local fashionista fixture Roberta Oaks teamed up with the innovative Kakaako-based arts event and network Pow! Wow! for a collab dream team. The latest release, the Keawe button-down, is named for one of the streets where the Pow! Wow! Hawaii murals can be found. Its bold, edgy design in a slimmer, modern cut gives aloha wear a slick new spin. Ladies can check out the chipper pink Auahi pouch for $22.95 from the last Pow! Wow! and Robert Oaks collab earlier this year—there are still a few left!

$115 at Roberta Oaks, 19 N. Pauahi St., 428-1214, or at robertaoaks.com.
