Weekend Picks - June 20, 2013

Six reasons to do something this weekend

Lei Chic Eat
Ciao Down
What:
Arancino just opened a third location at Kahala Hotel & Resort. Instead of an à la carte menu for dinner, the open-air restaurant offers four- or five-course prix-fixe menus, with several options for each course. We're still drooling over the lighter-than-air Kahuku corn souffle amuse bouche with prosciutto and equally fluffy Okinawan sweet potato gnocchi with sage brown butter sauce.
Where: Kahala Hotel & Resort, 5000 Kahala Ave.
Details: À la carte lunch starts at $15 for salads, dinner priced at $85 or $100, wine pairings available. Call (808) 380-4400 for reservations and click here to view more dishes on Biting Commentary.

Shop
Sale Away
What:
Cinnamon Girl is holding a rare blowout sale with women and girls blouses and dresses, plus Desigual, LA Made, Coin 1804, Second, Vintage Havana, Haven Girl, Monoreno and more, all going for a whopping 50 to 75 percent off.
When: Through Sunday.
Details: Sale is good in store only, locations listed here.

Buy
Good to Glow
What:
As part of its Values Inside Out program, Sephora is offering an exclusive You + SEPHORA cosmetics set with glitter eye liner, lip gloss and metallic nail polish in an exclusive clutch for $20. Proceeds from each Sephora store will go to the following local charities: HUGS (Sephora, Ala Moana Center), Hawaiian Humane Society (Sephora, 2250 Kalakaua Ave.), American Cancer Society Hawaii (Sephora, Pearlridge Center), and Women Helping Women Maui (Sephora, 2435 Kaanapali Pkwy. in Lahaina).
When: Now through December 21.
Details: View product and program details here.

Lei Chic Watch
Deep Blue See
What:
This weekend will be your last chance to see Blue Man Group perform in Honolulu. The action-packed show's week-long run ends Sunday. There are still seats available, though the first few rows - which require you to wear a poncho - are completely sold out. Our advice: choose a seat near the end. Not only will you be closer to the bathroom (there's no intermission), but you'll have a greater, though still miniscule, chance of being brought up on stage.
When: Every day through Sunday, last show starts at 6:30 p.m.
Where: Neal S. Blaisdell Concert Hall, 777 Ward Ave.
Details: Tickets start at $50 and are available at the Blaisdell Box Office or on Ticketmaster. Read HONOLULU Magazine's review of the show here.

Spot This
Keep your eye on the sky! This weekend's full moon will also be the closest (and the largest) to the Earth this year. Learn more about this supermoon here. Sunday at 1:32 a.m.

Just a Reminder
Noelani Studios is throwing a grand opening party with yoga, art, and dance demos and a fashion show featuring Noelani Designs' new Rainbow Dreams jewelry collection. Saturday, 4-8 p.m.

Lei Chic View
The Butterfly Effect
What:
Nature-loving keiki will have a blast at Flutter, Pearlridge Center's new butterfly exhibit, which features an activity station, educational workshops, and the best part, a pavilion filled with real, live butterflies (we recommend going on a weekday to avoid long lines).
When: Through July 14.
Where: Pearlridge Center Uptown, Center Court.
Details: $3 admission to the pavilion, activities and workshops are free. Click here for details.
Also: Snag discounts on butterfly-related merchandise throughout the Center, like 20 percent off butterfly scarves at Tapestries by Hauoli and 30 percent off butterfly designs at The Diamond Fairy. Plus, enter to win a butterfly pendant and chain, no purchase necessary.

Explore
Street Sighter
What:
Roam the streets of East Oahu tomorrow night for Third Fridays Kaimuki. Highlights include workshops on fear management and yoga, numerology readings, henna tattoos, and clothing sale at Yoga Hawaii, live DJ and store-wide sale at Mod Vintage, 20 percent off purchases of $20 or more at Sugarcane Shop, screenings of the documentary Taylor Camp at Coffee Talk, and $3 dessert tacos at Verde Kaimuki.
When: Tomorrow, 6-9 p.m.
Where: Various locations around Waialae Ave., from 8th Ave. to Koko Head Ave.
Details: View the full lineup here and here.
