Weekend Picks - March 28, 2013

Six reasons to do something this weekend

Lei Chic Watch
Hi Five
Pentatonix has already won over the hearts, and ears, of a few editors in our fashion office, and we imagine the five-member a cappella group sounds even more amazing in person. Good thing tickets are still available to see The Sing-Off winners live at the Republik this Saturday; their cover of Radioactive will blow you away.
When: Saturday at 8 p.m.
Where: The Republik, 1349 Kapiolani Blvd.
Details: $28 general admission, available here with a $5 increase day of show.

Lei Chic Win
Gift Eggs-change
Celebrate Easter Sunday at Royal Hawaiian Center to score some egg-cellent prizes. Show your same day receipts totaling $150 or more from any Center merchant or restaurant and pick out a prize via a colorful Easter egg while supplies last. Five lucky winners will get a $100 Royal Hawaiian Center gift card; other prizes include Royal Hawaiian Center pens, water bottles and travel kits.
When: Sunday starting at 10 a.m.
Where: Royal Hawaiian Center, 2201 Kalakaua Ave. Receipts must be submitted to Lei Ohu Guest Services on Level 1 of Building B fronting Kalakaua Ave.

Modern Times
Hit four different parties at one hot spot thanks to Elements at the Modern. Enjoy cocktails at the Sunrise Pool bar followed by fireworks and a fashion show with Milk & Honey boutique. Then make your way to The Study for more drinks and music before ending the night/early morning with a dance session at Addiction Nightclub.
When: Friday, 7 p.m.-4 a.m. Fireworks at 7:45 p.m., fashion show at 8:30 p.m.
Where: The Modern Honolulu, 1775 Ala Moana Blvd.
Details: A guest list ticket will get you in free before 8:30 p.m. (reserve one here, entrance to Addiction Nightclub not included). Otherwise, expect to pay $10-$20 in cover.

Lei Chic Eat
Dinner and a Movie
Get Spirited Away with Andrew Le's five-course pop-up dinner based on the classic animated movie by Hayao Miyazaki. The Pig & the Lady chef first whipped up the menu to rave reviews for a film and food series in Austin earlier this month. Work your way through a soup noodle dish topped with fried baby crabs (left), a caramelized green tea cake with kaya and lychee ice, and more - and yes, the movie will be playing as you eat. Biting Commentary profiles the dinner here.
When: Saturday is already sold out, but there are still a handful of seats available for Sunday at 8 p.m.
Where: R/D, 691 Auahi St.
Details: $69, full menu and tickets available here.

Roberta Oaks is holding a massive Easter sale in the back of her Chinatown shop. Score 10 percent off Kai fragrances, 20 percent off Roberta Oaks beach bags, 20 percent off Topo Designs, 40 percent of Utility Canvas, 50 percent off select Roberta Oaks Men's, and 75 percent off select Roberta Oaks Women's.
