State of Sundress

Roberta Oaks releases fun, flirty summer dresses

Dear Mrs. Draper,

We love your fashionable take on beachwear. That mini dress and floppy hat? Gorge. We were even impressed with your luau attire (though your hula, we're sorry to say, needs serious work).

There was, however, something missing from your envy-inducing wardrobe: a summer dress by Roberta Oaks. The retro-chic designer just released a handful of new, easy-to-throw-on styles that would have made your tropical look even groovier.

Imagine lounging on the balcony of your luxury, ocean-view suite in a soft, polka-dotted shirtdress with subtle shoulder pleats, contrasting cuffs and candy-colored buttons - just before you hit the hotel bar for some mid-morning cocktails. Or throwing on a flirty babydoll racerback tank dress (with pockets!) over your awesome printed bikini to grab lunch. And what better way to watch your hubby officiate a beach wedding than in a vibrant shift dress in vintage orange or blue Aloha print fabric? With fab round sunnies, of course.

Oh well. You'll just have to come back for another vacay... or time travel to the future and order it online. Oaks would have no problem shipping to your New York apartment.

Though Don might think you've gone Mad.

$105-$145, available at Roberta Oaks, 19 N. Pauahi St., and online. Photos by John Hook.
