We're just writing to confirm our date for tomorrow night. 8 o'clock. Honolulu Night Market's main stage. Don't be late.
Because you definitely don't want to miss HONOLULU Magazine's runway show styled by fashion editors Brie Thalmann and Stacey Makiya. The dress code is fierce: an explosion of prints, colors, textures and silhouettes in fun, statement-making combos.
Here, a behind-the-scenes look leading up to the big night.
In the magazine: Pattern Theory (view it online). Off-the-wall prints unite this fall in dare-to-be-different yet wearable looks.
If you flip through the fashion spread in HONOLULU Magazine's September issue, you'll know what to expect. What makes these combinations so successful? Mixing prints of different sizes and balancing silhouettes: skinny jeans with boxy tops, sweaters over tights, bodycon dresses and moto jackets.
Pattern-packed pulls: graphic black and white prints, houndstooth, tartan plaids, and digital and animal prints.
Brie and Stacey teamed up with Neiman Marcus to style 15 of-the-moment outfits pulled from CUSP by Neiman Marcus, the retailer's contemporary women's department. Featured brands include Alexander McQueen, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Diane von Furstenberg and Rag and Bone. "We have some really great patterns in our collection which made it fun and exciting to mix and match," said Lucy Chelini, public relations and merchandise manager. This will be Neiman Marcus' first appearance at Honolulu Night Market.
Accessories: Chunky layered necklaces with rocker-chic chains is also a big trend this season.
Accessories will be just as bold. Think stacked bracelets with mixed metals and colored leather, chunky layered chains and horn-shaped earrings for a punk rocker-chic vibe.
Complementing the fashions will be hair and makeup looks by Risa Hoshino, Ashlee Valeros and Kecia Littman. Keep an eye out for gorgeous red lips and ultra-sleek, on-trend ponytails with deep side parts.
And lastly, no runway show would be complete without music! Models will be strutting their stuff to a DJ-XL mix that includes crowd-pumping tunes like Ellie Goulding's "Anything Could Happen," Icona Pop's "I Don't Care," and Lorde's "Million Dollar Bills."
Otherwise known as our theme songs.
Catch HONOLULU Magazine's fashion show tomorrow night at 8 p.m. on the main stage at Honolulu Night Market!
Sneak peek: We can't show much (sorry, we're sworn to secrecy!), but here are a few snaps from yesterday's model fitting.
