Lil Coconut Hawaii's new California Dreamin' clutches

Lil Coconut Hawaii

Words of wisdom can come from a variety of sources. A renowned philosopher, perhaps. Your mom. Oprah.

And if that source happens to be a hip, versatile bag with a stunning scenic photo, well... who are we to judge?

It's time you learn about Lil Coconut Hawaii's graphic clutches. Maui native and Hawaii Pacific University graduate Amanda Dela Cruz starting making them as a creative outlet while managing the boutique Cottage by the Sea.

Her first bag was a gift for a friend: a photo she took of the waves at Diamond Head along with one of her favorite quotes, "Salt water heals everything." The result was such a hit, she churned out even more designs that cleverly combine her photography and inspirational quotes or phrases on slick 9-by-6-inch neoprene pouches.

Dela Cruz's California Dreamin' collection, which makes its online debut today, is just as sharp. Instead of Hawaii landscapes, the new designs highlight her recent move to Long Beach - lines of palm trees and Baywatch-esque lifeguard towers with phrases like "You, Me, & the Palm Trees" and "SD Living." Our favorite? The gritty, black-and-neon "California Dreamin'" pouch with bright sunnies reflecting a classic SoCal backdrop.

To celebrate, Dela Cruz is offering $10 off her new collection with the code CALI. So you can afford to pick up even more words of wisdom, Lil-Coconut-style.

Smart move, indeed.

$30 each, available online. Discount is good through September 25. Follow Lil Coconut Hawaii on Instagram for a chance to win an Aloha California clutch, details here.
