The Mau You Know

Spotted: Mau House jewelry by Andrew Mau

Mau House Jewelry
From left: Mano 12K-gold-plated necklace, $122, earrings, $62, and chain bracelet, $90.

Your guy is getting a little tired with your borrowed-from-the-boys obsession. Especially since he's already lost an undershirt, Aloha shirt, flannel button-down, tie, baseball cap, watch, and - uh, okay, we'll just stop there - to the cause. (Sorry, dude.)

Lucky for him, you don't need to "share" our newest find, hitting the floor of Owens & Co. today.

Introducing Mau House jewelry handcrafted by Punahou School and Rhode Island School of Design graduate Andrew Mau. This Rhode-Island-based jack of all trades juggles multiple design projects, from furniture and textiles to apparel and jewelry, all with a strong focus on technique.

  Mau House Jewelry
Clockwise from top left: Brass fin ring, $52, square ring, $85, and circle ring, $85.

Look sharp with a 12K-gold-plated piece from his Mano collection, based on a lost-wax casting from the tooth of a tiger shark that's been ground and polished into a stunning statement necklace, drop earrings or bracelet.

Or exude boyish charm with a signet ring, a stripped-down version of an iconic men's class ring with a square or circular face made of super-sleek, highly polished brass (just be careful not to wear it while working with chemicals or the metal will tarnish.)

Mau is also toying with the idea of mixing gemstones, pearls, antiques and even lava with his original castings. Whatever the results may be, we expect he'll have a hand in your newest obsession.

Way to go, man.

Mau House jewelry is available at Owens & Co., 1152 Nuuanu Ave. Select home goods available at Fishcake, 307c Kamani St. For more information, visit
