Lynn Sakutori launches new 'a-line' apparel at Macy's

a-line by Lynn Sakutori

We evaluated your closet and, well, we're just gonna spell it out for you.

Whirlwind sprees at Forever 21 and H&M mean you've got all the haute new trends down to the letter. Congrats, no zzzzs there. But having your clothes constantly fall apart after a few cycles in the wash? That puts your wardrobe on the D-list.

Thank goodness for Lynn Sakutori. This local designer has her hands full with several petite labels, including her Sakutori clothing line for Nordstrom. But a desire for high-quality basics in more contemporary silhouettes led her to launch a-line, a new, edited mix of sleek tunics, leggings, dresses and skirts.

Our initial reaction? We give Sakutori top marks for adding tiny details that give her basics an unexpected twist - think long-sleeved tops with twisted keyhole backs or two-toned maxi dresses with cropped overlays to elongate the body. She also offsets a striking, yet simple palette of bright corals, blues and purples with black and black-and-white stripes so mixing-and-matching is a breeze (now you can throw in those cheapy, trendy finds).

a-line also makes the grade when it comes to construction. Sakutori spent months researching knitting mills and yarns to develop a thick-knitted fabric that hits all the right notes: it's machine-washable and doesn't wear out, fade or pill over time.

You have our word.

$58-$128. [View more looks here!] a-line is available exclusively at the following Macy's stores: Ala Moana Center on Oahu, Queen Kaahumanu Center and Hyatt Regency Maui Resort & Spa on Maui, Kings' Shops on the Big Island and Kukui Grove on Kauai. Photos: Steve Czerniak.
